Thanks to his wise investments, Wichai Thongthan now sits on the boards of various listed companies including hospital company outfit Bangkok Dusit Medical, in which he and his wife own 12%. After its shares shot up in September 2012, he debuted on Thailand’s richest list and they have since climbed 50% cementing his status among billionaires. Other major interests that add to his swelling net worth are 25% of Cable Thai Holdings which beat out bigger competitors in a bid for broadcast rights for English Premier League football in Thailand, Cambodia and Laos through 2016.
