Early Life and Education

Taranasha “Tara” Wallace was born in 1982 in Mississippi. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Dramatic Art from Jackson State University, then relocated to New York City to pursue a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from The Actors Studio Drama School.

Pre-Television Career

Before her television career, Tara worked retail and appeared in commercials, community theater, and off-Broadway productions. She also managed a restaurant and nightclub in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District, combining her creative background with business experience.

Love & Hip Hop: New York

Tara began dating Peter Gunz around 2000. By the time she joined the cast of “Love & Hip Hop: New York” in 2013, they had two sons—Jamison and Kaz. Her storyline revolved around the revelation that Peter had secretly married fellow cast member Amina Buddafly, launching one of the most talked-about love triangles in reality TV history. Tara’s emotional journey through betrayal, co-parenting, and self-worth became a defining arc across multiple seasons of the show. In 2016, during season 6, Tara gave birth to her third son with Peter, Gunner Ethan. Although she and Peter never married, their relationship remained in the public eye well after their romantic split.

Professional Endeavors

Outside of reality television, Tara has worked as an etiquette coach and co-authored a self-help book titled “The Goddess Potential: A Guide to Developing a Relationship with Your Inner Self.” She also launched a maternity fashion line aimed at helping women regain confidence postpartum. Her social media presence focuses on empowerment, parenting, and personal growth. Tara continues to live in New York and co-parents her three sons with Peter Gunz. While she’s stepped back from the reality spotlight in recent years, she has maintained her platform as a speaker, writer, and creative entrepreneur. Her evolution from reality TV figure to self-empowered advocate reflects her commitment to reinvention and resilience.
