In 2009 she resigned and started her own firm Meredith Whitney Advisory Group LLC. She started the hedge fund Kenbelle Capital LP in 2013. She gained notoriety in 2007 when she wrote a pessimistic report on Citigroup. She was named the 2nd best stock picker in the capital-market industry by Forbes.com in 2007 and was named one of the 50 most powerful women in New York City by the New York Post. In 2005 Meredith married retired professional wrestler and Fox News contributor John “Bradshaw” Layfield.
